Online Communities Other Technical Support Products Online CommunitiesOne of the most valuable resources you can have is a place to get your questions answered. Fortunately, in the FoxPro world, there are many kind souls who enjoy helping others. Here's a list of places where you can post questions and volunteers will answer them. Many (but not all) of those who answer are Microsoft MVPs, people who've been recognized by Microsoft for the help they give others. There has been support for Fox products on CompuServe since sometime in the mid-1980's. The current location is the MSDEVAPPS forum. Many CompuServe forums, including MSDEVAPPS, are open to the public for free. The Universal Thread is a very active support site for Visual FoxPro. You can access its message base and other basic features for free. For a small monthly fee, you get additional features. Microsoft operates newsgroups on its server, msnews.microsoft.com. Look for groups with Fox in the name. Microsoft also has a web forum for VFP. Advisor Media operates a free web forum for FoxPro on its website. www.foxite.com is a free site offering a discussion forum, downloads, articles and more. FoxForum is another free site with a discussion forum. Ed Leafe runs a listserve for VFP developers. You can register at http://www.leafe.com/mailListMaint.html. Ed also operates a web-based discussion forum at opentech.leafe.com There are web-based forums for VFP and FoxPro 2.x at http://www.tek-tips.com/. Other Technical SupportMicrosoft's Visual FoxPro website offers a variety of resources, including technical articles, tools and sample code you can download, case studies and more. Also, visit FoxCentral for the latest VFP community news. The Visual FoxPro Wiki is an ever-growing knowledge base about Visual FoxPro and development in general. It allows readers to add information to any topic and to create new topics. The Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) is Microsoft's site for developer support. It offers access to product documentation, the Microsoft Knowledge Base, the DLL Help Database, Service Packs, and much, much more.
